Update on the greenhouse, better late than never☺

Image
(Warning: Lots of pictures☺) If we are on Facebook together,  you may have already seen some of these☺ Back in April I posted a bit about our progress on  the building of the greenhouse then I got so busy finishing and filling it, then getting the garden beds ready  and planting them, (plus, making many earrings )  that I just plain didn't have time for more updates until now☺ You can see where I left off here . We had to wait about 4 more days before we had a calm "window" of no wind (which lasted about 2 hours)  before we were able to get the roof panels in. After that, I installed the shelving (all by my self ~ yay me☺)  It was snowing outside  But, even with just a little electric heater, (running off an extension cord)  it stayed plenty warm enough to work inside.   Once I had the shelves in, Honey put in the electrical   and then installed a propane heater ~ it'...

Gardening update..... and YOJP Week 12

Image
This weekends weather has been really awesome Sunshine, no wind and 40 something both days. I am itching to start building the greenhouse that we bought last August. It was supposed to arrive in September with enough  time to build it before winter but due to some "back order"  delays it didn't arrive until November;(   WAY too late to build before winter. So it has been sitting out there in the connex, in boxes, waiting patiently. We are hoping to be able to start building next weekend. ~hope~hope~hope~ We need to get it up pretty soon cuz these guys and these guys are getting a little out of control☺ They need to be planted before too long. The new greenhouse will be heated, so no matter the weather, once we get it up and running, the tomatoes can go in☺ These guys and these guys will be living in the old greenhouse (which is not heated)   when it gets a little warmer out. And now my YOJP...

Summertime and Year of Jewelry ~ Week 30

Image
Summertime is such a busy time, the good kind of busy☺ In addition to yard work and gardening, Hubs and I went to a family reunion in Washington (state) It was awesome☺ I am also in the process of pulling out all of the old carpet in the house to get ready for the new carpet install next week. YAY! AND, we are in the planning stages of putting in a foundation for the  NEW greenhouse that should be arriving in about a month. YAY ~ YAY!☺ (I am so flipping excited !!!!) Busy ~ busy! I thought I would share some pics of my tomatoes. I'm kinda proud of their progress Seedlings started in the storage area ~ April 2014 Hanging out in the greenhouse ~ May 26, 2014 Taking over the greenhouse ~ Aug 8, 2014 Now we just water and wait Tomatoes ~ Aug 8, 2014 for these guys to turn red☺ I'm still trying to keep up with The Year of Jewelry Project I'm only 1 week behind☺ Here is Week 30

Garden Update ☺

Image
I actually didn't quite know what to do with myself this weekend;~) Every weekend lately has been about "The Garden" I was able to finish planting last weekend, and since it was a three day weekend, I also had the time to catch up on  some of the more pressing house cleaning duties☺ This Saturday it rained all day so I didn't even have to water the garden, so besides the usual weekend stuff like laundry and such I was pretty much a lady of leisure☺ I thought this would be a good time to show what all we've  accomplished on the garden area. I'll start with a quick recap of how it all started Two years ago, we did this. Tilled under the entire yard and started over. We separated it into different sections ~ The "Patio Area" with a fire pit, and an area for raised garden beds where the trees make it nearly impossible to grow decent grass. We left the garden area unfinished because, honestly, we were pretty much exhausted☺ The ...

I have been creating....

Image
Yes... I have been creating. Just not jewelry or beads or sculptures. Canned goods. Lots of canned goods.☺ 8 pints pizza sauce and 6 qts spaghetti sauce   YUM! Mostly tomato based canned goods cuz, well... this was a good tomato year☺ And a good jalapeno year, but I was too busy to get pics;( For the last two weeks I have had a heater going in the greenhouse at night to keep it warm enough for my babies to ripen up. Due to a late season attack of aphids and temps dipping into the low 30s at night, I decided it was time to harvest all of the tomatoes, red and green. I spent most of the day Saturday clearing out the greenhouse. About halfway done I picked all of the tomatoes and cleared out all of the plants. I will be very busy over the next few days ( weeks? ) Half of these became the pizza sauce in the pic up top, the other half is going to become another batch of spaghetti sauce So far I have made 22 pints of green tomato...

YOJP ~ all caught up☺

Fall is definitely in the air. I will spend the next couple of weeks clearing out the remainder of the  "crops" from the garden, storing all of the planters and pots and trying to keep the greenhouse warm long enough for some more of the tomatoes to turn red. Over the last few weeks, we have had almost non-stop rain so I have had plenty of  'indoor time'. Time to get all caught up on The Year of Jewelry Project . I was determined that I would follow through when I signed on and I am happy that I am back on track after the busy summer months. In my last post I showed you Week 32. Well, we technically just started Week 36 (finished piece due by Sept 7) so I have weeks 33, 34 & 35 to show you today. I think I may have to keep these☺ The main pic shows what I meant to be the front of the pendant  but I almost like the back better. So it's reversible☺ Lampwork beads by Juls More viking knit ....and lampwork by Juls   ...

very productive weekend.....

You are probably tired of hearing about the greenhouse  but I gotta share....It is summer after all;~) Time for all things 'gardening'☺ My new rain barrel☺ Since I wasn't keen on having a hose stretched across my driveway all summer or having to stretch it out every time I needed to water the greenhouse, I installed a rain barrel. Already .....LOVE.....IT! It rained all day yesterday and we had to empty some water a couple of times. May have to install an overflow spigot before long☺ Saturday was cool and cloudy but I was able to put these Flowers and veggies waiting to be planted in containers. Here Here Here And a few here. (This is the perennial garden and I just add a couple new ones each year and hope for the best) Many of the ones planted last year are coming back☺ Once I got the annuals out of the greenhouse it was time to rearrange and get ready for tomato and pepper production (I hope). I don...
