inspiring....

I have been extremely f***ing uninspired the last couple of months. As you could probably tell by the major lack of posts lately;( After all of the yard work was done for the year, the weather got (stayed) crappy. *i.e. Record snow fall last winter, a late spring, coldest July on record, earliest snow fall that I can remember in the 20 years I've been here Sept. 30th* Other stuff happened and I just haven't wanted to do much "making", but the last couple of weeks I have felt almost desperate to make something ~anything. But I just couldn't get interested in starting anything. So I decided to do some more of these . And I just couldn't come up with a good color combo that I liked, (yea, I know, I'm tired of the whining too. And I am totally done with it except to say that it has been raining for a solid week and hot flashes suck! OK, I'm done) So I went here , go there , you need to go there . And I found this...

everybody's doing it...

Let me start by telling you that I DO NOT make polymer clay canes. I totally don't have the patience. I love the way they look, I have a lot of respect for people who do caning,  but it's just not for me. I do not have the patience. I do crochet though. I hear ya... What does that have to do with anything????? Well, a few of the polymer blogs that I follow have been talking about  this cool Granny Square cane . I have been wanting to put a bit of a handle on my crochet hooks for a while now, the hand can get a little 'crampy' holding onto those little suckers. Especially since I do my crocheting in the evening, AFTER I am done either working on the computer all day (my day job) and/or conditioning and sculpting with clay or doing some sort of wire work. Anyway, you get the idea... my hands aren't as young as they used to be☺ And how cute would it be to have a handle of a crochet hook made out of granny squares??? So I...

don't know what's up with the pink

I have been busy. I have been busy making myself frustrated:~( I saw this necklace and I really liked the look of it.  It was a bead crochet necklace. Well..... I love to crochet so why not teach myself how to bead crochet. I spent every evening for two solid weeks trying to figure it out.  I would get about three rounds into it and loose track of where I was and that would get torn out and I would start over. Once you get 4 or 5 rounds in you can better tell where you really have to go next but I could never get that far. At the end of the two weeks I decided to try ONE more time and I actually got a piece of work that was almost 2 inches long and it was so NOT RIGHT that I gave up (for now) on bead crochet. Since I felt like I hadn't accomplished anything in two weeks I decide to do something with some pendants I made ages ago☺ This is the third try for this FINALLY simple necklace. I knew I wanted to use the pink turquoise square beads, (I don't know why but ...

some new things

I have accomplished a few crafty things in the last few weeks, just haven't had much chance to post cuz Honey has recently found a "Snow Machine Forum". Alot of chatting about and photos of snow machine  (or in most parts of the country - snowmobile) adventures. So he has been spending a bit more time on the computer than he used to, which means I spend less☺ The good part - more crafty accomplishments. The bad part - less show and tell. I was really getting in a funk about winter and I was crocheting  neckwarmers and wristwarmers like mad, so I decided maybe I should stop the winter wear for a while and think summer. I found this pattern for a summer "Straw Hat" and knew it would  be perfect for my sister.  She loved it so much she sent me a picture☺ Isn't she cute?  I want her hair. I also found a pattern for a bag that looked cool First let me say, I didn't think it would be so hard to take a picture of a bag. This was my experiment so I followed th...

So..... I spent all weekend doing this project. I DID get some of these done, but not all. I was so tired of having my crochet projects piled up on my side table. ( I currently have three going right now ). This was my hubby's magazine rack, a better description would be the magazine black hole. The last time I got fed up with it overflowing and cleaned it out there were magazines in there that were six years old! I finally convinced hubby that he didn't need to keep all of his back issues since he NEVER opens them again after the initial read through and I mean Never. Any time he wanted to go back and look something up he just "googled" it. Who needs paper? So... instead of filling it back up with magazines, he started keeping a few books in it. Gardening books and the like. The kind of books you only look at once or twice a year. Eventually he got just enough books in it to make a nice level surface that was perfect for holding some of his many remotes. Now... yo...

A.D.D. is alive and well at my house

It started out all innocent like. I wanted to try my hand at some buttons. I figured it would be a good opportunity to try some of the surface techniques from this book by Ellen Marshall. (Love it, by the way. What I wouldn't give to take a class. OK, I'm wandering again.....) Back to the buttons. I was trying to decide the best size to make. I wanted to go big but not too big. So I thought maybe I will make something to show as an example of what you can do with these large buttons. I decided to go with crochet, since I am pretty decent with that, thanks to my late Grandma Dubberke. (She tried like hell to teach me to knit, but I sucked so badly that she finally settled on crochet. I don't think I let her down.) There I go again... OK, back to the subject. I started with this neckwarmer and fell in love with the pattern. (Thank you Danielle, for being my model. I know I told you I would crop the photos, but these were just too cute :-) Then this one... Then, I had to ...
