I'm taking a class!!!!

Image
Well, it's actually an e-Course and I am so excited!! Late last year I bought this Then I asked for this for Christmas. Since then I have been trying to figure out where I am going to be able to play with my new toys. I live in a log cabin with somewhat low-ish ceilings, except in the living room which is a cathedral style.  And since it is a log cabin with three different types of heat, oil heat stove, propane heat stove and wood stove, we have a smoke alarm on every floor and they are very, very sensitive. Opening windows for any length of time in the winter is not a comfortable proposition. So I had pretty much decided that I would have to wait for summer. Then this e-Course  came up and I just had to sign up. Still don't have a place in the house where I can set up, so what to do? I had an epiphany (gosh I've wanted to use that word for so long:). At the shop we have a very large loft space that is used for stor...

I was planning on cleaning up so I could find some room to do some sculpting. What happened is what usually happens... distraction☺ I liked the color combo of my last necklace so much that I wanted to make a set of earrings to match. Yeah... I thought it would be easy to just throw together a set since I already had the colors worked out. Yeah RIGHT! It was HARD to figure out how to string together that many shapes and  colors in earrings and not have it just look like a mess. And I should know cuz I had about 30 different "messes", (**~~mourning a gross of head and eye pins~~*)  but I finally ended up with a pair I like☺ They are funky but I think they have the same 'feel' as the necklace. And can somebody tell me where this stuff has been all my life??? I am in love with memory wire!  Who knew? After the initial distraction, which lasted almost a day and a half, between jewelry and laundry; I was able to accomplish this. There really is a table under ther...

a closer look......

Taking a little step back in time, this is my work table right after we got done putting it in. It is 7½ ft long and 4ft wide. It's cut out of furniture grade 3/4" plywood. I drew out what I wanted and my Honey cut it and helped me get it up the ladder, then it was up to me to install. It's mostly level☺ After 3 coats of varnish, I started loading it up. There is a regular crank pasta machine on the right and the wider model with a motor on the left. Now for a little look-see underneath that bad boy. Just ignore the dust on the floor, I do all the time and it still won't go away. That strange looking white thing on the floor is an air compressor for a spray gun. I was able to get that cheap! cheap! My old job (of 16 years) was running a bakery in a large grocery chain and when we went through a complete remodel they replaced every piece of equipment whether it needed it or not. We were given the option of paying a few bucks for anything that was being ...

a little look around......

Thought I would show you a little of my "area". This is actually my kitchen. (I know what your thinking," That couldn't possibly be the kitchen it has a stove and fridge." DUH, right?) Anywhooo... ignore the mid-week clutter on the counter and zero in on that hard to spot 'LADDER IN THE MIDDLE OF MY KITCHEN' Stairway to Heaven?? Not. But it does take me to my happy place. ☺ Welcome to "The Loft", otherwise known as my area, the office, my clay table, my "Studio" or simply, MY HAPPY PLACE☺ The entire floor space is about 15' x 20' but with the pitch of the roof, usable space is a little limited. The pic above shows an over view of the "office" side of the loft. On the right is the opening where the ladder is. Hand rails. Safety first. It pretty much cuts the room in half on the one side. And, yes, there are two computer monitors there on the left. Two printers, too. Long story. Might get into it someday. ~...

Bear, Bells and a Dirty Little Secret

Image
I am usually a neat person, and I like it when things are organized . I think everything should have a home. I actually have been known to become very annoyed when I'm looking for something and it has been carelessly moved from it's home. That being said.... when I find myself in a creative mood, I always seem to get 20 or 30 new ideas at the same time and, of course, I try to do all 20 or 30 projects at the same time. Then this happens. My husband has the good sense (bless his heart) NOT to mention the condition of my work table. A friend asked me to make something for an 8 year old girl. She had recently found a very dear, old school friend (via the internet ) and this friend has an 8 yr old daughter. My friend wanted to send her something from Alaska (which, by the way, is where I live). She said that she wanted to send one of my Moose Pins but she wanted to send her something else also. Something cute bu t Alaska-ish. I told her I would come up with something. Well, I t...
