Do you ever feel like you have way too many things going on at  once and start feeling overwhelmed  when in fact it is just you feeling like you should be  or want to be accomplishing "x" number of things  and you simply don't have time for all of them? And then you beat yourself up because you can't "do it all"? Oh.... and then there is that full time job thing. Yea..............   I just have to keep reminding myself......... If you think about it, for the most part, the only person you are letting down is You. Give yourself a break! ☺  I've been spending A LOT   of time in the greenhouse. Absolutely loving the warmth and the smell of dirt☺ tomato plants, broccoli, cauliflower, cabbage   Lots of transplanting and watering happening. Everyone is growing so fast! squash, peppers, flowers I've also been having all kinds of ideas of things I want to be making. Not just jewelry, but some ne...

Year of Jewelry ~ Week 14

Image
It's my own fault.... Yesterday I posted this to the group .... And then I may have mentioned that it would be nice to wear this with  a pair of jeans and a t-shirt when things warm up a bit. And this morning I was greeted by this..... I have lived here for over 20 years and I know  that we will usually get snow in April, but it still feels like Mother Nature is being just a little bit rude. And my weather obsessed hubby informs me that there is a second storm on it's way and it is expected to dump another 12 - 18" of snow  on top of the 8" we got last night:( ~ sigh ~ Even though Spring hasn't actually sprung for us yet, it will get here. Hopefully these will be seedlings ready to plant in about 8 weeks☺ And I will be ready☺

I like being me...

This is where I was today. We rode for about 3 hours.   It was a beautiful day.    It was overcast, but in the 70s ( here that's about as warm as it gets in the middle of summer, and we're just getting started ) and a nice breeze to keep the skeeters down. His Hers This is Ruby Lake.  This picture shows end to end. Here are a couple of loons that you can't really see. (By the way all pics on this post are courtesy of Honey, since I forgot to bring my camera) A couple of stuffed animal friends over-looking the lake. (It took us the longest time to figure out what the heck these were.   We had to blow up the pics to see:) One of THEE MOST AWFUL pictures ever taken of me,  but hey, it's not a beauty contest,  it's a ride.  The Love of my Life. Not nearly as dirty as me, since he was in the lead. We can ride our 4-wheelers right from the house, along the trails and be here within about 30 minutes.  Who can't just l...

brand new

Meet our newest (and I mean REALLY new ☺) neighbors. They are so FLIPPIN CUTE when they are babies! Momma decided to take a short cut through our yard last night.  We guestimate these little ones were born earlier in the day.  One is still packin' his umbilical. We are taking a four day weekend.  Today we are taking the 4 wheelers out.  Hoping to get a little riding in before it gets too crowded on the trails out here.  Then we will be doing yard work for at least a couple of days and hopefully a day of rest before going back to work. Hope everyone has a safe, happy, relaxing, productive weekend!

Life of Fireweed......

Image
A lot of people that visit Alaska think that Fireweed is our State Flower. Probably because it is big, it is showy and it is EVERYWHERE. Our state flower is actually the "Forget-me-not" Starting in early summer the Fireweed starts blooming from the bottom up. Conversations between locals go like this: "Wow! It's July already?" "Yea, I know, my fireweed's already half-way up!!" Once it blooms out, all of the petals fall off and the transformation begins. Think a cross between dandelion fluff and spider silk. (Don't ya love the way it curls?) Then the most dramatic part..... Isn't it just the prettiest bright red? I have to admit that I look forward to it but I dread it even more. This means that termination dust is just around the corner. And, I'M NOT READY!!!
