Year of Jewelry ~ Week 16... and the awesome trade☺

Image
Once again this week I did not follow the prompt, which was "Hidden from View". Instead I took the opportunity to learn another new jewelry making technique... Chain Maille! It wasn't as difficult as I thought it would be. I'm sure there are super complicated patterns out there, but this pattern was kind of fun. It's call Byzantine. Learning the Beaded Russian Spiral Russian Spiral ~ the green one and the blue one in front was, at least to me, much more difficult. And it is MUCH easier to go back and fix a mistake later in the Chain Maille. And quicker. Much, much quicker! lol I have already ordered a couple of chain maille kits, (surprise) so I can play with this some more. In other news,  I think I made the trade of the century this last week:~) A lady came in the shop to drop her car off for some services. While waiting for her ride, she noticed my display cases and we got to chatting about jewelry maki...

Free car wash....

~~~ If you are looking for the BSBP Reveal ~~ ~~ Go Here ~~ We are currently in the middle of break-up (finally!) which means the arrival of Snirt . I have been needing to wash my car, but  this time of year, with everything thawing and freezing, a clean car doesn't last very long, so I've been putting it off ~ til now~ Seriously glad I didn't pay for this car wash Or I think I would  have had to ask for my money back☺
The BIG Day!! The Bead Soup Blog Party Reveal Day has arrived ~ and The Year of Jewelry Project ~Week 15
Image
And believe it or not ~ I am ready! Yay!!  (I was ready on the original reveal date but I was also grateful for the extra week to  improve the photos and tweak the blog post ;~) (I've also submitted the necklace as my Week 15 project in The Year of Jewelry Project  ☺ Killed two birds:~) My partner for this hop is Sheryl Stephens of   The Babbling Beader She is a very talented seed beader and also has an Etsy shop where she sells some really cool jewelry and some very unique beads. Check it out, you won't be sorry☺ Dyed Pink Jade, Dyed Purple Magnesite, fresh water pearls, Swarovski bicones, Bali Star toggle clasp and two types of seed beads This is what Sheryl sent to me♥ As strange as it may sound, I absolutely LOVE the colors, but they are not colors I would have actually picked out if I was bead shopping. So, without further ado, it's time to show you what I made☺ When I first saw this gorgeous pendant, Dyed Purple Magne...
Year of Jewelry ~ Week 14
Image
It's my own fault.... Yesterday I posted this to the group .... And then I may have mentioned that it would be nice to wear this with  a pair of jeans and a t-shirt when things warm up a bit. And this morning I was greeted by this..... I have lived here for over 20 years and I know  that we will usually get snow in April, but it still feels like Mother Nature is being just a little bit rude. And my weather obsessed hubby informs me that there is a second storm on it's way and it is expected to dump another 12 - 18" of snow  on top of the 8" we got last night:( ~ sigh ~ Even though Spring hasn't actually sprung for us yet, it will get here. Hopefully these will be seedlings ready to plant in about 8 weeks☺ And I will be ready☺
Year of Jewelry ~ Week 13
What with flying out of state for a few days and finishing the photos, etc. for the Big Reveal Day next weekend for the Bead Soup Blog Party  , (I'm in the second reveal on 4/6) and finishing my magnet order, I opted to submit something I was already working on, that I finished this week, rather than try to make something to fit this week's prompt, which was "A Personal Talisman", cuz I just didn't have time☺ Holy crap, could that sentence have been any longer!?? Can you have that many commas in a sentence? Anyway, this is my submission for week 13☺ I love the colors in this one And, once again, my color choices came directly from the focal. Juli has an awesome eye for color. I showed a picture of this one "in progress" to my sister while we were in Washington for the big bash and she decided that it really needed to live in Montana☺ So first thing Monday morning it will be on it's way.  Oh! and I ...
Grandpa's Birthday....
Image
Last weekend I went to my Grandpa's Birthday party. He turned 100!♥ My Mom and my Grandpa at his 100th Birthday Party☺♥  The kiddos just love him and his heart just melts when they are around♥ Last Thursday morning I picked Mom up early and headed to the airport. We flew into SeaTac and hung out for a couple of hours waiting for my sister to fly in from Montana, then it was off to the car rental. You take a shuttle bus a few blocks away to the building that houses all of the car rental companies. We discussed it ahead of time and decided that I would be the one to drive. My sister lives in rural Montana and has never driven in that type of a traffic situation, and my mother... well,  let's just say... um ...it would be a cold day in hell...over and out! So I bit the bullet☺ (My Honey programmed our GPS with all of the addresses I knew we would be going to) We got the rental car, got loaded, we had a bit of a line once we started to ...
PAR-TAY!!!!!
I am going to be a little bit late with my YOJP post this week (like I've been on time the last couple of weeks~ right? ugh.) anyway I will be flying out tomorrow morning to Washington State. ~~I'm gonna party like my Grampa is 100!!!~~ Which he will be this Friday! Been trying to get everything done 'ahead' that needs to be done while I'm gone from work, of course it had to be payroll week, but I got-er-done☺ And my #1 helper decided to delay the birth of her first child by two weeks (HA HA HA HA!!! and boy was she not happy about the delay☺) so the planned return to work to cover my absence obviously wasn't going to happen. So a huge shout out to Holly for coming in early to help out! Thank You! I'm SO glad you came to work with us♥ Ok, and since I hate dislike posting without pics (I don't know why☺) I will leave you with these (L) Bella, who loves to be at the shop and raise hell (R) Gorgeous Patrici...
