it's a Christmas surprise. Just thought I would show you a couple of things that the folks are getting for Christmas. I haven't named either one of these guys cause I want Mom & Mike to pick their own. AND, I think Alaska has finally decided to go for the White Christmas this year. Dec, 15, 2009

My New Light Box :-)

Image
♥ I think I love my new light box ♥ (My light box set up on the floor in the loft) I found this great tutorial for making a collapsible light box . I have been flirting with the idea of buying one, but I just couldn't bring myself to pay that kind of money. I have found a few tutorials for making one, but they are a little more "permanent". Like I would have to find a place to store it when I wasn't using it and I have a tiny house (I mean tiny) and about a third of the useable storage space is already filled up with my craft stash. It was super easy to build, I followed the instructions and it came together in about 1 hour (most of that time was spent marking, measuring and looking for my utility knife that my husband had used and not put back :-) My light box cost me alittle more than the 5 bucks it cost Amy, but then again alot of things you buy in Alaska seem to cost quite a bit more than the lower 48. The box itself cost me around $12 (foam core- 4 pieces @ ...

I think he loves me.

These arrived at work today. I haven't received flowers from my husband for several years. He used to send me flowers all the time, for all the "right" occasions: Valentines Day, Birthday, Anniversary ... you know the ones I mean. I finally told him that as much as I appreciated the thought, if he was going to spend that much money on a gift for me, I would like it to be on something that would last longer than a week. After that the flowers stopped and the "What do you want for your birthday?" started. For a few years I tried the "I don't care." approach. Then one year for Christmas he bought me a beautiful pair of diamond earrings. Wel l l l l l l.... I already had a pair of diamond earrings that he had bought me a few years earlier and what am I going to do with two pair of diamond earrings anyway? Soooooo..... I asked him if he would be really upset if we returned the earrings and bought a Dyson vacuum cleaner that I had been eyeing...

DON'T BLAME ME......

It's not my fault, He just came out of my brain like this. HotTub and all. At this point I don't even know what to name him. George? Octo-Guy? (I know, technically an octopus has 8 tentacles and our fellow here only has six, but who's countin'). Have a great idea for a name? Let me know! Here are some more pendants I have been working on. I really like the copper patina look. I definitely like it better "un"-varnished. Patina and shiny just doesn't seem right.

Hooray for Me!!!!! :-) :-) :-)

When I realized what the date was today, I was very pleased with myself. Today was the day I was aiming for. Today I pat myself on the back, today I gave myself three cheers, and today I tooted my own horn. As of today, after thirty of my (almost) 46 years I have been a non-smoker for two WHOLE years!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Yay for Me!!! --> These are my "Quit Stats". They are delivered daily, courtesy of QuitNet, by email. (I'm not into the whole community chat thing, but the counter gadget was awesome) Your Quit Date is:Monday, October 22, 2007 at 12:00:00 AM Time Smoke-Free:731 days, 6 hours, 4 minutes and 17 seconds Cigarettes NOT smoked:14625 Lifetime Saved:3 months, 21 days, 17 hours Money Saved:$5,402.09 I have been receiving a daily "Quit Stats" email for exactly two years now and I think I am ready to "unsubscribe" and stop being concerned with being someone who "quit" smoking and move on to being someone who ...

Some new work

Image
I finally have some new work to show. These are all pendants. I'm thinking of trying Artfire and just selling the pendants. I don't seem to enjoy the construction of the necklace as much as I enjoy the making of the pendants. Toner transfer and ink drawing. Carved and back filled and embellished with leaves. Photo transfer, acrylic paints and embossing powders. Photo transfer. Photo transfer. Photo transfer, ink drawing. Carved, drilled and back filled. Photo transfer. Thought I might put some of these together for Halloween.
