new babies.....

the clay kind☺ I have a really nice customer at my day job (Honey and I run an auto repair shop - yes! we work together, have for almost three years and we haven't tried to kill each other! yet.) Her and her husband have been coming in since they came to Alaska via military orders almost three years ago. She was originally nicknamed "The Jag Lady" since she drives an older Jaguar that she treats like her baby,  but she quickly became "The Dragon Lady" cuz I couldn't make baby dragons fast enough.   She would buy every one I could make. (Honey suggested I put a small display case in the lobby of the shop, smart guy) Well, I have been distracted by numerous pursuits lately and I haven't been working on my favs, the dragon babies. Well Kathy and her Hubby are being shipped out of Alaska in a couple of months so when they were in for a tire swap last week there was a request made and then a promise made, (all of which was much to the chagrin of Kathy'...

ok... I can show you now

Well, the little fellow that I mentioned here  has arrived safe and sound at his destination in Munich so I can show him off now. This fellow went to Germany to live with Birgit She named him "Sutton" after the name of my home town. I think it fits nicely☺ And I am still plugging along on my "tubular peyote" thing. lol! Someday I hope it turns itself into a necklace. I know it's not 'perfect' but LOOK! IT'S TUBULAR!  and it's WAY longer than the totally deformed 2 inches of completed bead crochet that I disgustedly threw out after 'thehellishtwoweekordeal' of trying to teach myself how to bead crochet. (for some reason some of those beads want to look purple  but they are lying, they are brown) I haven't been feeling overly inspired lately, (it could be weather related - ie. winter sucks!) but I did try some experimenting last weekend with tinted liquid polymer. I was going for a 'faux' ceramic look. I used blue because it...

What I've been up to

Image
Besides work, which ended up being 5 Mondays in a row this past week=( I have been working on a few things . Penguins A little dragon baby in back there, waiting on legs☺ Some simple little Christmas earrings I am also crocheting some wash cloths for my Mom's husband (to go in his newly remodeled bathroom) and a neckwarmer for Mom. These will go in the giant gift bag of goodies we give them every year. They each get their own large gift bag full of wrapped gifts, even the smallest item is gift wrapped. The first year we did this Mom absolutely loved it! She said it was so much fun to just  spend the morning "unwrapping". So it's pretty much become a tradition☺ "On November 3, 2002, a 7.9 earthquake hit the area near Denali. This was North America's largest inland earthquake in almost 150 years. Alaska is so sparsely populated that the damage from this quake was relatively mild." "More bald eagles inhabit Southeast Alaska than anywhere else in...

Shhhhhhh....

some new stuff

Let me start this post by saying "I GOT A NEW CAMERA!" "I'M STILL TRYING TO GET USED TO IT!" "I CAN'T SEEM TO TAKE A DECENT PHOTO YET!" Ok.    Now that I have that out of my system,  I have a couple of new things I have finished. Some new image transfer pendants. Some are still waiting for "bails". a new necklace The pendant on this is also an image transfer after some tweeking with photoshop,  the colors are pretty close to what they look like in person I really love the way this came out . It makes me happy ;-) this guy doesn't have a name yet aaand he is also much cuter in person ( and really more of a turquoise color) turquoise, turquoise, turquoise...... the more I type it, the more wrong the spelling looks but spellcheck says it's right Okey dokey... moving on. my next project I'm not usually drawn to pinks but the flower in the transfer on this pendant is just an awesome color this is the origina...

Awwwwwwwww ..... April

Image
I swear, it happens every year.  And every year it's soooooo depressing. Here is Lily and Scoobie Doo basking in what April has once again brought us. Sunshine and 10 inches of new snow. They are predicting snow through the weekend.  yea =( My weekend will be spent playing with the Art Clay Silver that arrived this week and starting some new baby dragons.  I'm thinking young dragons, really young, 'egg' young☺ I have some ideas, we'll see how they play out. I have been enjoying 'mindless' claying this week. My husband got me flowers one year in a clear glass vase shaped like a swan.  I've had this for probably 5 years or longer and I finally decided on a "Faux Jade" to cover it with.  It still needs a good coat of varnish (I don't sand☺),  but I think I like it.

Done...........

Image
I had hoped to be done with these little fellas by Monday evening, but waking up with a NASTY cold puts a bit of a damper on productivity.  (Just to give you an idea of their actual size, the little bucket stands 2" tall.)  This unfortunate little guy told me his name was Everett.  He's not quite sure how he ended up in this predicament. Unfortunately, no one else was very forthcoming with info. Apparently they are waiting for someone else to give them a name. I would hate to send them out into the world nameless. Can you help?

AND THE WINNER IS........

Thanks to everyone who stopped by and entered =) I visited so many new blogs, that at one point, I vaguely recall my husband saying  " Step.  away.  from.  the.  mouse." ☺ And my blog roll more than doubled.
