I have a  Love~Hate  thing with fall. Love the colors. Fall colors, earth tones are my absolute favs! Love the fact that the gardening and yard work is finished for another year. As much as I love my yard and garden, I'm pooped☺ The view from our deck  Sept 28, 2013 Hate the fact that Winter is very VERY close. These colors will only be here another week or so then the trees will be bare. The snow won't be far behind;( I should feel lucky, I suppose, since last year at this time it was snowing. Sooo, I haven't posted in a few weeks and I'm OK with that. I'm behind on my YOJP pieces, and I'm OK with that. I have veggies growing in the raised beds that I built and the moose have only nibbled a few of the plants The little one has a taste for broccoli and jalapeno pepper plants ~ go figure☺  but they haven't completely destroyed anything yet.  Which is seriously  Awesome! We have had the weirdest weather I can ever remember. (I have been in Alaska for 21 years now) Two winters ago we had record amounts of snow. (they ran out of places to put it all and it is illegal to dump it in the ocean) Last summer we had the coolest July on record (the entire summer pretty much sucked, we only  had about 2 or 3 days above 70 the entire summer) This last winter we broke the record for the  "longest snow season" meaning the longest stretch between the first snow fall of the season and the last snow fall of the season.  ...

I have been needing to wash my car, but  this time of year, with everything thawing and freezing, a clean car doesn't last very long, so I've been putting it off ~ til now~ Seriously glad I didn't pay for this car wash Or I think I would  have had to ask for my money back☺

This weeks prompt was "Rescued from the Scrap Bin" I have had this teardrop-ish pendant? in my scrap basket for a couple of years. I had tried my hand at creating some mokume-gane and I was squishing up the left over scrap clay and thought Oh! That's kinda pretty.. so I shaped it a little and baked it. Then I thought it looked a little plain and kind of odd shaped and didn't have a clue what to do with it☺ So it went in the scrap basket. I actually pulled it out of that little basket yesterday and decided to practice my wire wrapping. (Nothing like waiting til the last minute) I figured if it turned out crappy it could go right back where it came from☺ I obviously have a long way to go with my 'skills' in wire wrapping But I don't think it has to back in the basket, but I still am not sure where to go with it from here☺ I'll come up with something eventually. lol! I am almost finished with my whole...

Ok... I admit that I am a couple of days late with this week's (last week's) piece but I have a good reason☺ More on that in a minute~ Anyway... this is actually a re~do. The first one I made was literally the first micro-macrame bracelet I had ever made. You can see why the re-do was needed here I had meant to re-do it in the exact same pattern but changes were made (I can't help myself☺) Now it's a  little longer than I wanted but still totally wearable☺ Now for the news! It's official.... I'm going to have some of my goodies in a Gallery / Gift shop in Anchorage and this summer I will have same said goodies in a Gallery / Gift shop in Skagway . Apparently in the summer there are quite a few people in Skagway☺ With just under 800 year round residents, you wouldn't think Skagway would be a great place for a Gallery but more than 800,000 people pass through this town every summer, so this is very exciting☺ ...

You are probably tired of hearing about the greenhouse  but I gotta share....It is summer after all;~) Time for all things 'gardening'☺ My new rain barrel☺ Since I wasn't keen on having a hose stretched across my driveway all summer or having to stretch it out every time I needed to water the greenhouse, I installed a rain barrel. Already .....LOVE.....IT! It rained all day yesterday and we had to empty some water a couple of times. May have to install an overflow spigot before long☺ Saturday was cool and cloudy but I was able to put these Flowers and veggies waiting to be planted in containers.  Here Here Here And a few here. (This is the perennial garden and I just add a couple new ones each year and hope for the best) Many of the ones planted last year are coming back☺ Once I got the annuals out of the greenhouse it was time to rearrange and get ready for tomato and pepper production (I hope). I had to drive to Anchorage today for a "parts run" and office supplies and since I had quite a few Office Max rewards points built up I thought I would treat myself to a new camera. I wanted something itty bitty that I could carry around in my small-ish purse so that I would have it handy for the occasional 'awesome sunset' or 'beautiful mountain view' that I get rewarded with on my way to or from work because I have learned that I am apparently incompetent when it comes to taking pics with my phone. Which is not a smart phone, by the way, because smart phones are apparently smarter than me and I get annoyed. Sooo, anyhoo, I found the cutest itty bitty Nikon Coolpix s6100 and I love it. So far I seem to be winning in the smart department AND it fits in my purse☺ And since the battery had some juice I took a few pics...
